Printing History, published twice a year by the
American Printing History Association, is available only through
membership in APHA.
Current and Recent Issues have dealt with a variety of topics related to
the history of printing, publishing, books, type, typography, paper and
related industries.
Printing History New Series:
With issue no. 50, the current series of Printing History
will be completed under the editorship of David Pankow. We expect the last
issues of the original series in the first half of 2008.
Printing History New
Series began in 2007 with no. 1, under a new editor, William S. Peterson.
Printing History's original series is expected to be finished in the first
half of 2008, so there will be overlap when issues 49-50 and N.S. 1-4 appear.
William S. Peterson is Professor Emeritus of English at
the University of Maryland and is the former editor of Papers of the
Bibliographical Society of America and the author of books about the Kelmscott Press and Daniel Berkeley Updike. His e-mail address is
editor@printinghistory.org.
Printing History prefers to receive submissions as
e-mail attachments, created, if possible, in Word, WordPerfect, OpenOffice, or
RTF (though the editor can deal with other formats if necessary). It follows
The Chicago Manual of Style (slightly modified), and contributors should
observe that its notes are rendered as footnotes rather than endnotes. Readers
familiar with Printing History will also be aware that it especially
welcomes illustrated articles.
If you would like more information, please get in touch with
